An experienced Social Security Lawyer or Disability Advocate can be very helpful to you in many ways. First, your lawyer can check to see if you have applied for all disability programs for which you are eligible. Disability claims offices can, at times, misplace files or fail to process them in time. It isn’t uncommon for an applicant’s lawyer to have to argue evidence of communication with Social Security is enough to prove an application was filed, and therefore counting as protective filing, and preserving the applicant’s rights.
A Social Security Disability Lawyer can also determine if you are eligible to reopen an old application. In a few cases, an earlier application, even filed as much as three or four years earlier, can be reopened, making you eligible for years of retroactive payments and thousands of dollars. If you have ever filed an application prior to, or even simply called Social Security to inquire about benefits, you could lose if you fail to look into reopening a prior application. Make sure to let your disability advocate know about any old applications or communications with the Social Security Administration.
One of the greatest things about today’s Social Security Lawyers is they do not charge you a fee, unless you win. This means you will not need money up front to hire a lawyer to help you with your Social Security Disability case. If you are unsure about how to file, or fill out applications, this is a great way to make sure they are done accurately and by people who deal with this on a daily basis. Preparation of Social Security applications can be very time consuming, and in most cases require copies of medical records. Most people don’t have the time, and don’t understand the filing process, another reason why hiring a Lawyer is a great idea.

I have noticed a trend lately, it seems like every time I look at the local Las Vegas newspapers, there has been another article that was posted on 8newsnow.com in early November of 2011. The name of the article is Metro Names Most Dangerous Intersections, but the video clip beneath it states “Pedestrians Causing Accidents”. That is what caught my attention, calling the drivers victims, instead of the Pedestrians who were injured.
Most Dangerous Intersections in Las Vegas

The article goes on to list the following intersections as the most dangerous for Auto-Pedestrian Accidents,
• Tropicana Avenue and Paradise Road
• Tropicana Avenue and Eastern Avenue
• Tropicana Avenue and Pecos Road
• Pecos Road and Flamingo Road
• Sahara Avenue and Fort Apache Road
While these Accidents take place throughout the Valley, according to Metro, at these locations, they happen most frequently. These intersections account for 67 injuries from April 17, 2011 – Nov. 3, 2011. Also, the article states that ¼ of all auto-pedestrian accidents were the fault of the pedestrian.
On my way to Lunch today, driving east on Charleston, I began to pass Maryland Parkway when I observed a pedestrian crossing the street on a cross walk. I stopped behind another vehicle, but in the lane next to me, a car came speeding by and nearly hit the pedestrian while going at least 45 mph. It is strange to see how unaware of the surroundings people have become, while driving or crossing the street. Even more disturbing is the fact that in 2009 there were 75 auto-pedestrian deaths, 63 in 2010, and 56 in 2011 as of November. We are improving, but there still is a long way to go. Hopefully these numbers will go down in 2012.
If you are involved in something this tragic, remember to get a good Las Vegas Attorney on your side.
Make sure your rights are defended the way they should be, and you receive the compensation you deserve.

Safety concerns have been raised for some Las Vegas citizens, after two motorcycle accidents in less than a week at the same intersection have left two riders seriously injured. According to reports from 8 News Now, the most recent crash brings the tally to four accidents at the intersection of Jones Boulevard and Robindale Road in the last 90 days.
The most recent crash occurred Wednesday afternoon, at around 4:00 PM, when a GMC Yukon, attempting to make a left turn with just a green light, cut in front of a Honda motorcycle. The maneuver forced the biker to slam on his breaks, the bike to crash. The biker was ejected from the motorcycle and both skid directly into the Yukon. The 28-year-old rider died at the scene.
Less than a day later, a Jeep struck a UNLV ROTC cadet in the same intersection. He was rushed to local hospital, UMC, with critical injuries and remains their in ICU as friends a family gather in support of his recovery.
The Nevada motorcycle accident lawyers with the Richard Harris Law Firm feel that while motorcycles can be a very fulfilling hobby and form of transportation, bikes come with great risks. They say the best way to protect yourself while riding a motorcycle is to always wear a helmet and make yourself visible to other drivers by utilizing lights and wearing reflective clothing or vests when it is dark.

A settlement has been reached regarding a lawsuit that stems from an incident between the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) and a man who was beaten and arrested after being suspected as a drunk driver during a diabetic shock. According to reports from FOX 5 News, the man and his family was awarded $292,000 in damages.
The incident took place in October of 2010 near Lake Mead and the Boulder Highway in Henderson, Nevada. NHP Troopers and Henderson officers had pulled the man over after observing the man driving as if he were drunk. Little did they know the man was a diabetic and had gone into insulin shock while behind the wheel.
The man pulled the car over, but was unresponsive when officers and troopers approached the vehicle. Video footage from squad car dash cams shows officers tearing the man out of the vehicle and bearing him until he was on the ground, motionless.
Paramedics were not called to assist the man until officers found insulin in the man’s pockets during a search of his person.
Henderson city council members agreed to pay the victim $158,500 in damages, while the state will pay $35,000. The man’s wife was also awarded $99,000 from the state.
