Activist and Coast Guard involved in Nevada boat accident

April 3, 2008

The Las Vegas Sun reported that, amidst mounting tension surrounding the nation’s annual seal hunt, a boat and coast guard icebreaker were involved in a Nevada boat accident.

One person reported that the icebreaker was grazed twice by a member of a conservation society. The conservation group argues that its ship was bumped twice by the icebreaker.

A spokesman for the department says that these claims are false and are made in effort to discredit the coast guard.

There was no damage and no injuries in the Nevada boat accident.
